2023/2024 Infrastructure
In 2025, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the State of Georgia $265,726,000 in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to address the unmet needs of areas impacted by the storm events of Hurricane Idalia, Tropical Storm Debby, and Hurricane Helene between 2023 and 2024.
A portion of these funds has been allocated by the State to the Infrastructure sector for the Competitive Application Infrastructure Program. This program is designed to fund infrastructure projects in communities impacted by the 2023-2024 Hurricanes, as identified in the
HUD-approved
CDBG-DR 2023/2024 Hurricanes Action Plan

Projects funded under this program may include, but are not limited to, water/sewer/stormwater, streets/bridges, drainage systems, and facilities. Additionally, DCA may issue direct allocations if there are remaining funds available after fully funding the Competitive Application Infrastructure Program.
The following MID-counties may be eligible for assistance: Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Candler, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Columbia, Cook, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Jefferson, Jenkins, Johnson, Lanier, Laurens, Liberty, Lincoln, Long, Lowndes, McDuffie, Pierce, Richmond, Screven, Tattnall, Telfair, Tift, Toombs, Treutlen, Ware, Washington, Wayne, Wheeler, and Wilkes.
