Atlanta, GA. (October 5, 2026) – The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is accepting applications for the 2027 Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) grant cycle. 

This grant cycle offers up to $10 million in CHIP grants to eligible local governments, nonprofits, and public government authorities. CHIP supports local efforts to address housing needs across Georgia and increase the opportunity for homeownership for low- and very low-income households. Funds are awarded through a competitive application process that estimate a community's commitment to expanding access to safe, decent, and affordable housing for Georgia residents.  

Applicants must submit their applications through the Emphasys online portal. A link to the portal, the 2027 CHIP Application Manual, and supporting application documents are available at: Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) 

Eligible applicants include: 

  • City and county governments in Georgia, excluding HOME participating jurisdictions, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development 

  • Certain public government authorities  

  • Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status  

  • Current CHIP grantees with less than 50% remaining balance in the current CHIP award  

Previous eligible activities included a $500,000 award for the rehabilitation of owner-occupied single-family homes and a $1,500,000 award for the new construction and reconstruction of affordable single-family homes for sale to income-eligible homebuyers. 

Applications and all required attachments must be submitted by Sunday, January 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. EST (Eastern Standard Time).
