About the Martin Luther King, Jr. Council

In 2011, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed the bill to create the Council which consists of nine Georgians serving four-year terms. The Georgia Commission for Service and Volunteerism (GCSV) of the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) supports the Council by promoting and planning statewide activities to honor the legacy of Dr. King. Through a number of forums and initiatives, DCA fosters partnerships to help communities achieve their goals. We encourage collaboration in specific areas through the Georgia Commission for Service and Volunteerism and the Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Council.
