Georgia Mortgage Assistance Program Expands with Time-Limited Refinance Option
Atlanta, GA. (August 15, 2025) – The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) expanded its Homeowner Assistance Fund to include a new refinancing option through the Georgia Mortgage Assistance (GMA) Refinance Loan program.
Designed to reach more homeowners still struggling with mortgage payments due to financial hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the GMA Refinance Loan program provides a new opportunity for relief.
“We’re looking to assist homeowners who have been unable to find a more affordable mortgage solution with their current mortgage or servicing company,” said Wesley Brooks, Deputy Commissioner for Homeownership at DCA. “The new GMA Refinance Loan program will help fill that gap and assist more of our fellow Georgians who need help to remain in their homes.”
The new GMA Refinance Loan program offers the following:
- A 3 percent interest rate
- Loan terms up to 40 years
- Covered attorney fees
- Covered housing counseling services
- Covered loan origination fees
This is a time-limited opportunity, and homeowners should apply soon while funds last. Under federal law, Georgia’s Homeownership Assistance Fund will expire when funds are exhausted or by September 2026, whichever occurs first.
