Public Notice – Draft Public Action Plan for CDBG-DR 2023 Allocation (January Tornadoes)
April 15, 2024 – Notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is seeking public comment for the 2023 CDBG-DR Action Plan (January Tornadoes) and may be viewed here at Public Hearing - 2023 CDBG-DR Action Plan.
The purpose of the hearings is to provide an opportunity for public engagement regarding the $12,595,000 awarded to Georgia by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds for activities in the Presidentially Declared Disaster areas affected by the January 2023 tornadoes (DR 4685).
Through coordinated efforts with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) and Local Governments, DCA is in the process of drafting a Public Action Plan. The Public Action Plan will identify the intended use of the CDBG-DR funds and is due to HUD on May 31, 2024.
The public comment period began on Monday, April 15, 2024, by posting on the DCA website and distribution by email to Local Governments to inform the public of the draft Public Action Plan and inviting comment through Thursday, May 16, 2024. In addition, DCA will hold two (2) hybrid public hearings on Thursday, May 2, 2024. The public hearings will be held at the Historic City Hall, 201 E. Solomon Street, Griffin, GA 30223 at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Interested parties can attend in-person or virtually. Those interested in attending virtually can register here:
