2025 CDBG Summit - October 6-9, 2025

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is hosting its 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Summit in Macon, Georgia, October 6 - 9, 2025.

The State of Georgia’s Community Development Block Grant program provides grants to cities of fewer than 50,000 people and counties of fewer than 200,000. The CDBG program assists “in developing viable communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate incomes."

The Summit combines the previously held Applicants’ and Recipients’ Workshops into one event and is designed to benefit both applicants and recipients of State of Georgia CDBG funds. As a recipient of a 2025 CDBG award, a local government representative is required to attend. Registration fees paid for a recipient local government representative may be reimbursed through the grant award. 2026 Applicants with local government staff attending the Summit, specifically the compliance and application development general sessions, will be eligible to receive 10 bonus points. The attendance component can be satisfied by sending any city or county staff directly involved with the grant to the Summit as outlined below. Attendance by grant writers/administrators on behalf of an applicant or recipient does not satisfy attendance by a local government.

  • Recipients:
    • Day 1 - Recipient Overview
    • Day 2 – Compliance
  • Applicants:
    • Day 2 – Compliance
    • Day 3 – Application Development
    • Day 4 – Housing (optional)

The Summit will cover everything you need to know about how to apply for or administer CDBG funding. Topics to be discussed include the application and implementation process, specifically eligible activities, national objectives, citizen participation/public hearing components, award limits, environmental review, procurement procedures, technical compliance and assistance, fair housing, Davis Bacon labor requirements, and much more.

The State of Georgia is typically awarded an estimated $40,000,000 for funding projects through the Annual Competition and CDBG set-aside programs, depending on funding availability. Eligible interested parties are invited to apply for a wide variety of community development, infrastructure, economic development, or housing projects.

Who should attend

Representatives from cities and counties meeting the State CDBG Program’s eligibility requirements and recipients of FY2025 CDBG awards should plan to attend. Though not required, it may be valuable to have your architect or engineer attend this workshop. Attendance will enhance the quality of your project, thereby increasing your likelihood of timely and successful implementation.
