SCAM ALERT: Rental Assistance

Dear Community Members, 

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has been made aware of individuals posing as DCA staff in an attempt to scam applicants. 

Please be advised: DCA does not charge any fees to apply for assistance. Additionally, the DCA Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed, and the Georgia Rental Assistance program has not accepted applications since May 2023. 

DCA does not accept payment via CashApp, Apple Pay, or Venmo.  

To ensure you are communicating with DCA, and not a scammer, please take note of the following: 

• DCA communicates information through its official website and associated web portals, and via its official social media channels.  
• DCA staff communicate via official emails ending with dca.ga.gov. 
• DCA uses ZenDesk for some communications.  Those emails will end with dcaga.zendesk.com. 
• If an individual is currently participating in DCA's voucher program, they should communicate with their assigned Housing Specialist. 
• If individuals are asked by email, phone, or text to pay an application fee, told that they can pay to move up on the waiting list, or contacted by someone claiming they can guarantee admission to the program, this is a scam. End communication immediately and report the incident to DCA.
